The mission of the Ergonomics
Function is to provide expert technical advice in ergonomics to installation
occupational health programs, to ensure mission capability, and prevent
work-related musculoskeletal disorders and their associated costs. We
furnish this support through telephone consultations, on-site surveys, and
contractor oversight. |

Our office has initiated changes to GSA's PICS system, GSA's catalog preparation system, and GSA Advantage to provide
an ergonomic category that would group all ergonomic products together. It
is our intent to be able to produce catalogs of ergonomic products and
provide user friendly access to ergonomic products in GSA Advantage. We are
working toward developing GSA Advantage as a primary source of ergonomic
products offered by private industry. |

Computer/Electronic Accommodations Program (CAP) provides assistive
technology and accommodation services to persons with disabilities in the
Department of Defense (DoD), at no cost to individual activities. CAP's
mission is to ensure people with disabilities have equal access to the
information environment and opportunities in DoD. CAP's services make DoD
work environments more accessible to DoD employees with hearing, visual,
dexterity, cognitive and communication impairments. CAP supports electronic
accessibility efforts, which include the requirement in Section 508 being
enforced by the Department of Justice. |
